Introducing AI to working teams is understandably causing quite a stir across industries. Leadership concerns around implementing AI are quite common and valid. My team and I have been tracking this topic for quite some time, and frankly, it’s not so dissimilar to the adoption of general automation 10 – 15 years ago. But it is the “hidden fear” discussed in many spaces, that has really piqued my interest. There is the general prevailing theme that AI will take jobs. But when you speak to many leaders now, they are more concerned about keeping their strong talent and struggling to hire adequate employees due to poor change management practices.

I have been in the intelligent automation space for over 20 years, and early on the focus was to automate the mundane tasks, and ROI was tied to full-time employee costs. As it evolved, it became clear that creating capacity for existing workers was just as valuable. With AI, we can take this concept a step further.

AI, if implemented properly with other support technologies (RPA, API’s and integration with key systems or data) can move this notion forward. It is what we, at CampTek, are focused on going forward. Empower your People with AI. The concept is that you can take a person or segment of people in your organization and capture their tribal knowledge on an ongoing basis with the help of sophisticated AI that utilizes every piece of relevant data it can model. The most complex challenges—like healthcare insurance claims—become dramatically easier to solve. The “plumbing”, which is directly tied to integrations, has already been proven in the last 20 years. That is to say that the groundwork is already there with RPA, APIs, data, etc. AI elevates the efficacy of these already-proven solutions.

At the end of the day, this watershed moment isn’t about eliminating jobs—it’s about unlocking people’s greatest strengths and supporting those who haven’t been able to reach their full potential. With an AI coworker by their side, an employee can become two to four times more valuable to the organization. To give the people that work, these toolsets there is no limit to how successful companies can become.
